Regarding the digital news-letter 'Nieuws van het Thuisfront'
in which we asked in what side of the family the story concerning the bastard son
was known before 1973, when the geneal ogy was made, Hanneke Thuis wrote
as follow.

My Father Antonius Johannes Thuis (son of Wilhelmus Thuis en Christina van
Leeuwen, born in 1915 in the Haarlemmermeer) was elated by this suspected descent.
He was excited about it. We teased him about it, but we took it not to seriously.
Once I wrote an essay for school about the 80-Years War (1568-1648). I took a book
from the library. While reading it my eye fell on a few black and white pictures
from paintings out of that period. Imagine my surprise when my eye fell on a
picture on which I saw my father, wearing a breastplate. Without reading the
accompanying liric I understood that this must heave been my ancestor. Also the
rest of the family shouted while seeing the picture, oh really it's dad. Big
hilarity while reading the legend. The treacherous count Hendrik van den Berg
(1573-1638) who at first fought on the Spanisch side for Infanta Isabella sold
himself to Frederik Hendrik. (The accompanying painting is made by Antony van
Dyck and can be found in the Prado in Madrid.)
Since then we don't doubt about this descent anymore.
It's fascinating that the specific features stayed the same throughout the ages
and can be found in the features of my father and his brothers.
